Long Term Substitute - Special Education

Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Long Term Substitute to support our Special Education program at King Learning Center
. This position requires an individual who is committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for students with diverse needs.

Starting ASAP until approximately October 12, 2026. Substitute will be paid at the long term substitute rate per the DREA contract.

• Collaborate with classroom teachers and support staff to adapt curriculum and instructional strategies to meet the needs of all students.
• Provide direct instruction and support to students in both one-on-one and small group settings.
• Monitor and assess student progress, maintaining accurate records of student performance and behavior.
• Participate in team meetings and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in special education practices.
• Maintain a safe and positive classroom environment that encourages student engagement and participation.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the school administration.

• Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field preferred.
• Valid teaching certification or substitute teaching license in the state.
• Previous experience working with students with disabilities in an educational setting is preferred.
• Strong understanding of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with students, staff, and families.
• Ability to adapt instructional methods and materials to meet diverse learning needs.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Patience, empathy, and a commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
