Optical Research Engineer

The role involves supporting optical engineering within the Transportation & Electronics Business Group Laboratory, working closely with cross-functional teams to design and develop optical systems and components such as optical gratings and micro/nanostructures for applications like optical displays and automotive sectors.

Key Responsibilities include:

• Designing and developing optical systems and components.
• Performing optical simulations and modeling to optimize designs.
• Applying physical optics and electromagnetic principles to solve complex problems.
• Conducting validation and testing, analyzing results, and iterating on designs.
• Staying updated with advancements in optical technologies.
• Preparing technical documentation for stakeholders.
• Collaborating with internal teams to advance product development.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Master's degree in Optical Engineering, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related science field.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Ph.D. in relevant fields.
• Expertise in physical optics, electromagnetic theory, and imaging optics.
• Proficiency in optical simulation software (e.g., Zemax, Light Tools).
• Experience with scientific computing languages like Python or MATLAB.
• Knowledge of optical characterization techniques.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Experience in project leadership is a plus.
