Associate Engineer

Associate Engineer – Park Rapids, MN

The Associate Engineer (AE) is an entry‑level developmental engineering position designed to build upon engineering fundamentals and develop the necessary skills, networks, and experiences. The AE participates in a well‑rounded Supply Chain program that rotates through critical supply chain functions, corporate, engineering, or operations‑related areas. Completion prepares the individual for opportunities in project engineering, technical engineering, project management, and/or plant engineering roles.

• Onboard and participate in the AE program, rotating through various supply chain roles.
• Design, cost‑estimate and execute engineering projects using Lamb Weston project management and design processes on assigned capital investment projects.
• Solve assigned technical issues and author professional write‑ups with solution recommendations.
• Develop safety, production, and quality operational skills by leading a plant production team.
• Shadow maintenance divisions (processing, packaging, boiler/steam, ammonia refrigeration, wastewater/environmental).
• Develop, schedule, and execute a maintenance plan.
• Build an understanding and network within the Lamb Weston supply chain by meeting with roles and responsibilities and how they interact with engineering groups.
• Complete safety trainings, execute safety processes during production/maintenance onboarding, and obtain OSHA 30 certification.
• Attend Lamb Weston Process Safety Management and HAZWOPPER training and develop ammonia safety skills.
• Attend specific Lamb Weston trainings and achieve Process Quality certification.

• B.S. or B.A. in Engineering.
• Fundamentals of Engineering Exam Pass and Engineer‑in‑Training certification.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
• Basic skills in Autodesk applications – Inventor, AutoCAD, Navisworks.
• Basic meeting facilitation, leadership, ambiguity handling, problem‑solving, and research capabilities.
• Ability to sit or stand up to 12hours a day (sometimes longer) in a construction environment.
• Capacity to lift up to 15pounds occasionally (up to 25pounds infrequently).
• Experience walking on manufacturing facility surfaces, climbing ladders and stairs, accessing difficult locations, and working amid plant and construction noises/vibrations.
• Temperature tolerance from hot to cold conditions.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 4weeks at a time.
• Ability to safely operate a company vehicle for up to 8hours a day.
• Preferred: 1–2years related leadership/management experience.
