What will you be doing!
  • Participating in short‑ and long‑range engineering and project planning to support decommissioning objectives.
  • Providing practical, economical engineering solutions and advanced technical advice to resolve project issues.
  • Interpreting and evaluating data from engineering investigations and recommending necessary changes to specifications, plans, techniques, and materials.
  • Providing expert advice on design, production, methods, and equipment selection to meet project requirements.
  • Evaluating completed results against standards, objectives, specifications, and quality assurance requirements.
  • Developing and taking responsibility for project work packages covering design, construction, commissioning, and facility decommissioning activities.
  • Preparing and reviewing technical scopes of work, specifications, and documentation to support procurement and execution.
  • Identifying, assessing, and initiating changes to approved design and construction work scope when required.
  • Conducting field walkdowns to verify design parameters, construction progress, and operational readiness.
  • Proactively supporting and implementing the project quality assurance plan throughout the work.
  • Liaising professionally with external design consultants and contractors and representing the organization in a professional capacity.
  • Maintaining confidentiality and adhering to safety regulations, procedures, and event‑free tools during all work activities.
  • Other duties as assigned by your manager.
What we are looking for:
  • Education
    • University degree in engineering or applied science (mechanical, electrical, or related) or equivalent, with significant related experience.
    • Eligibility for membership in a provincial engineering association.
  • Experience
    • Significant related engineering experience in a field of specialization.
    • Previous supervisory experience is considered an asset.
    • Eligibility for membership in a provincial engineering association (for example, APEGM).
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
    • Knowledge of engineering codes and standards used in design, construction, commissioning, and decommissioning.
    • Ability to work to tight timelines in support of site‑wide decommissioning plans and schedules.
    • Strong computer skills, including document preparation; understanding of CADD tools.
    • Well‑developed written and verbal communication skills with the ability to persuade, influence, and build consensus.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative, team‑oriented approach with a questioning mindset.
    • Demonstrated organization, planning, time management, detail orientation, and prioritization.
    • Leadership mindset with the ability to coach peers, provide constructive feedback, and empower others.
    • Confidence engaging managers and directors to solicit advice and promote implementation strategies.
    • Initiative and judgment to maintain workflow and record accuracy; high motivation and ability to work with minimal supervision.
    • Ability to work extended hours and off‑normal shifts to support project needs.
    • Knowledge of facility decommissioning and relevant policies and procedures considered an asset.
  • Security Clearance Eligibility Required
    • Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”
