The Role:

Mechanical Lead

This Mechanical Lead role is based on a major data centre construction project in Vaasa, Finland, working as part of the senior site delivery team overseeing the full mechanical package from installation through to commissioning and handover.

You will take ownership of mechanical programme delivery, subcontractor coordination, QA processes, and site safety while working closely with the Project Manager, consultants, commissioning teams, and client representatives.

The successful Mechanical Lead will play a critical role in ensuring mechanical systems are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with strict project milestones within a live data centre construction environment.

Must Have Requirements
  • Must have previous experience managing mechanical packages on large construction or industrial projects
  • Proven experience required in mechanical project delivery within data centres, pharmaceutical, industrial, or mission critical environments
  • Experience with a main contractor or mechanical contractor delivering large scale projects is required
  • Must have strong knowledge of mechanical systems, QA procedures, and programme management
  • Trade background or relevant third level qualification required
Preferred Experience
  • Data centre project experience preferred
  • Previous experience managing commissioning activities beneficial
  • Experience dealing with industrial relations and subcontractor management advantageous
  • Strong reporting and client coordination skills preferred
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the full mechanical systems package on a large scale data centre project
  • Coordinate mechanical subcontractors and drive programme delivery across all phases
  • Work closely with the Project Manager and Safety Team to maintain site safety standards
  • Manage mechanical QA processes including inspections, documentation, and close out
  • Monitor project progress against programme milestones and client requirements
  • Manage labour, materials, subcontractors, and package related costs
  • Coordinate testing, commissioning, and handover activities
  • Chair mechanical coordination meetings and provide regular progress updates
  • Ensure quality standards are maintained throughout all mechanical installations
  • Maintain strong communication with consultants, client teams, and internal stakeholders
About You
  • Strong background in mechanical construction delivery within large scale projects
  • Excellent understanding of HVAC, pipework, plant rooms, and mechanical services installation
  • Able to lead teams and coordinate subcontractors within a fast moving site environment
  • Strong commercial awareness with experience managing package costs and variations
  • Organised and detail focused with strong QA and reporting capability
  • Comfortable working within demanding programme driven environments
  • Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to drive standards on site
