This position is located at the Bridge Office in Oakdale and may have flexibility to work a hybrid schedule or work in the office. The incumbent will be required to make a telework arrangement with their supervisor. The incumbent will be expected to work in the office as determined by policy and discussion with their supervisor.

* ** As a Preliminary Bridge Designer, you will lead and conduct preliminary bridge engineering, direct the development of preliminary bridge plans, and provide expert guidance during early project planning and scoping. This role is critical in shaping bridge concepts that balance engineering needs, environmental context, cost, constructability, safety, and long**  **-*
* ** term maintenance.*

* Responsibilities include:

** Lead preliminary bridge engineering, collaborating with districts, functional units, and stakeholders to develop context-sensitive bridge concepts.*
* +  
** Provide expert guidance in bridge planning and scoping, including evaluating structure alternatives, conducting feasibility studies, and supporting early project decisions.*
* +  
** Develop preliminary bridge plans by coordinating technical inputs, supporting drafting staff, overseeing consultant work, and performing quality reviews.*
* +  
** Support department initiatives through committee participation, presentations, public engagement, standards reviews, research, and development of scoping-level estimates.*

** Assist with consultant selection, management, and value engineering activities.*

** Licensure as a professional engineer with the Minnesota Board of Architecture, Engineering, Land Surveying, Landscape Architecture, Geoscience and Interior Design (AELSLAGID).*

** Experience in structural analysis and bridge design.*
* +  
** Experience with bridge plans, bridge components and different bridge types.*
* +  
** Experience analyzing engineering information, identifying problems and recommending solutions.*
* +  
** Experience using Geopak, Microstation, or Open Bridge Modeler (OBM).*
* ** Engineer 2 Graduate

Minimum Qualifications **  **:*
* ** To qualify for Engineer 2 Graduate, applicants must meet all of the following:*

** A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited college/university; and two years post-graduation civil engineering work;*
* ** OR*
* +  
** A Master's degree in Civil from an ABET accredited college/university; and one year of post-graduation civil engineering work.*
* ** AND*

** A passing score on the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.*

** Experience in structural analysis and bridge design.*
