Position: Product Life Prediction (PLP) Engineer – R&D Engineer
Location: Bayport

R&D Engineering

The R&D Engineering position provides critical insights to Andersen's engineering teams by evaluating how products and materials perform under a wide range of mechanical forces and environmental conditions. This work spans both laboratory and real-world applications, with analysis ranging from events occurring in milliseconds to performance trends observed over years.

Operating within Andersen Corporation's Research, Development, and Innovation organization, this role is responsible for developing advanced experimental testing methods, analyzing large and complex datasets, and delivering data-driven recommendations to stakeholders across the R&D organization. The position also manages and analyzes extensive data sources, including R&D test results from multiple U.S. facilities, weather databases, and product warranty data, to support product development, performance evaluation, and strategic decision-making.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop, improve, and document proprietary Andersen testing and measurement methods for both laboratory and field applications.
  • Develop and implement measurement systems for new testing applications, including sample preparation procedures and instrumentation plans.
  • Collaborate with technicians to collect and validate measurement data using a variety of advanced testing methods.
  • Train and mentor technicians on test setup, inspection procedures, and measurement techniques as required.
  • Analyze large and complex datasets, including R&D test results from multiple U.S. locations, weather data, and product warranty information, to support product development, performance assessments, and strategic decision-making.
  • Perform data analysis and post-processing to evaluate product deformation characteristics and material property behavior.
  • Document test results and communicate engineering findings and recommendations to internal stakeholders through technical reports and presentations.
  • Travel within the United States as needed (up to 10%).

Qualifications

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Materials Science.
  • 0-5+ years engineering experience
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with product development processes.
  • Familiarity with reliability engineering principles and product test methods desired.
  • Good understanding of statistical methods, data visualization, and analysis tools.
  • Ability to write and debug computer programs (ie. C, C++, Fortran, Visual Basic, Python).
  • Understanding of basic principles of circuits and electronics and ability to solder custom circuits and sensors as needed. Arduino or Raspberry Pi experience is a plus.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)
  • Experience using databases desired – MS Access, mySQL, Oracle, SQL Server.
  • Experience using ESRI ArcGIS is also a plus.
  • AutoCAD or other CAD software experience desired. Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.

Pay Range: $78,824.00 - $
