Engineer I – Civil & Structures
As an Engineer I – Civil & Structures, you'll help design and deliver utility-scale solar energy projects while working alongside experienced engineers and multidisciplinary teams. Depending on your background and interests, you'll support projects during either the preconstruction/estimating phase or project engineering phase, contributing to innovative, safe, and cost-effective civil and structural solutions from concept through construction.
A typical day may include reviewing engineering drawings, assisting with civil and structural designs, performing quantity takeoffs, supporting constructability reviews, coordinating with Engineers of Record (EOR), and collaborating with Engineering, Estimating, Integrated Supply Chain, Construction, and Project Management teams. Whether you're helping develop competitive proposals or supporting engineering execution after project award, you'll gain valuable experience while building the foundation for a successful engineering career.
Step into the role:
- Assists the Senior Engineers – Electrical and Senior Project Engineers to support Blattner Internal Engineering and other stakeholders with the project design through project completion.
- Aligns construction teams to ensure they have the necessary design information, quantities, and specifications to build the projects.
- Creates designs that satisfy the design life of the power plant by establishing compliance with local, state, and international building codes and company best practices.
- Create designs that provide the most economical means to satisfy the design life of the power plant. Collaborates across company departments, with outside vendors, suppliers, and technical firms to explore innovative ideas, methods, materials, software, and technologies that save costs, increase efficiency, promote safety, and provide strategic benefits.
- Establishes safe engineering designs that compliment company, state, and federal safety regulations. Assures projects are designed in compliance with all applicable safety standards including NESC, NEC, NPFA, OSHA, and others.
What you'll need:
- Bachelor's degree in civil, structural, or mechanical engineering, or related field from an ABET accredited college required.
What sets you apart:
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certificate or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certificate.
- Previous engineering or construction/field related experience in a related industry (i.e., heavy civil, industrial, utilities).
- Surveying and renewables-focused experience.

$68,684.00 - $99,593.00 Individual compensation to be determined based on the applicant's applicable experience and qualifications balanced against internal equity.
