Payroll and Finance Specialist Wabasha-Kellogg School District

The Wabasha-Kellogg School District is seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative professional to serve as its Payroll & Finance Specialist. This 12-month employee is a key member of the District Office team, and will play a critical role in supporting staff, students, and the overall financial operations of the district.

• Process bi-monthly payroll for approximately 110 employees (including regular and extracurricular staff)
• Administer benefits, insurance, and leave tracking
• Manage tax reporting and payroll compliance
• Maintain employee status changes and payroll records

• Support bank and credit card transactions and reconciliations
• Assist with accounts payable and vendor payments
• Perform tasks related to UFARS and MARSS
• Assist with annual audit preparation and documentation
• Provide general business office support and cross-training as needed

• Relevant education and/or work experience in payroll, accounting, or finance
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and provide excellent customer service
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Desire to support students, staff, and the educational mission of the district

• Degree/Certification in Accounting, Payroll, Finance, Business, HR, or related field
• Experience in Minnesota school district payroll or public sector finance
• Familiarity with UFARS, MARSS, PERA, TRA, or other HR system
• Knowledge of benefits administration, ACA, FMLA, and FLSA requirements
• Experience with accounts payable, reconciliations, and audit preparation
• Desire to continue with professional growth and opportunity
