Cost Accounting Manager

Location: Minneapolis

Description We are looking for an experienced Cost Accounting Manager to oversee and optimize cost accounting operations across multiple global manufacturing facilities. This role is essential in ensuring accurate product costing, inventory valuation, and variance analysis while driving process improvements and maintaining robust internal controls. The ideal candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance profitability and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities:

- Manage and oversee cost accounting processes across multiple global manufacturing locations.

- Develop and update standard costs and lead the annual cost roll processes.

- Ensure accurate inventory valuation, manage reserves, and reconcile accounts to the general ledger.

- Oversee month-end close activities related to inventory, cost of goods sold, and manufacturing variances.

- Analyze and report on labor, overhead, and production variances to identify trends and opportunities.

- Partner with plant controllers and site finance teams to ensure consistent costing methodologies.

- Establish and enforce global cost accounting policies and best practices across all operations.

- Support budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning processes.

- Drive process improvements and automation in cost reporting and data analysis.

- Lead and mentor a team of cost accountants, fostering collaboration and continuous improvement. Requirements - At least 5 years of experience in cost accounting, preferably in a manufacturing environment.

- Expertise in standard cost accounting and inventory valuation processes.

- Proficiency in financial systems such as SAP or SAP Business One.

- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.

- Experience with month-end close procedures and variance analysis.

- Proven ability to manage and mentor teams across multiple locations.

- Familiarity with developing cost models and conducting profitability analysis.

- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
