Compensation

Pay range: $100,000 USD to $155,000 USD.

Description

The VP Commercial Loan Officer manages an existing commercial loan portfolio and originates new commercial lending relationships within the Twin Cities metropolitan area. This role underwrites, structures, and closes commercial loans in accordance with the bank’s policies and applicable state and federal regulations, exercising sound credit judgment and maintaining strong customer relationships.

Essential Functions
  • Proactively develop new commercial relationships through networking, referrals, and targeted outreach.
  • Foster referral and participation networks and cross‑sell bank products and services.
  • Originate commercial loans and grow deposits through relationship development.
  • Underwrite, structure, document, and close commercial loans across a variety of products.
  • Analyze financial statements, cash flows, tax returns, and collateral to assess creditworthiness.
  • Prepare clear credit memoranda and approve credits within the position’s individual lending authority or present loan requests to approval authorities.
  • Monitor portfolio performance and proactively manage risk; recommend workout strategies as needed.
  • Maintain current knowledge of lending policies, regulatory requirements, and BSA/AML obligations.
  • Ensure loan documentation and processes comply with internal controls and regulatory guidance.
  • Collaborate with credit, operations, and other departments to deliver excellent customer service.
  • Assist colleagues and contribute to team goals.
  • Maintain regular attendance and punctuality.
  • Travel for industry schools and seminars as needed.
  • Use Multi‑Factor Authentication apps on personal mobile devices as required.
  • Adhere to all applicable federal and state laws, regulations, and guidance, including BSA/AML.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and reserve right to revise the job description.
Education and Experience
  • Required:

    High School diploma or GED.
  • Required:

    Continuing education to maintain job knowledge.
  • Required:

    Three years of related commercial banking experience.
  • Preferred:
    Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, or related field.
  • Preferred:
    Five to ten years of related commercial banking experience.
  • Preferred:
    Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Preferred:
    Experience with SBA, CRE or C&I lending and financial modeling skills.
