Position Summary
This position will be responsible for managing an existing Ag loan portfolio and developing new Ag lending business. The VP Ag Loan Officer must effectively underwrite, structure, and close all types of Ag loans in accordance with the Bank’s established policies and procedures, exercise sound judgment in the loan‑making process, and maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of the Bank’s lending policies as well as state and federal lending regulations.
The role includes extensive customer contact and oversight of operational aspects for Ag loans in their market, and may involve supervision of other department lenders.
- Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Possess knowledge of regulations governing all lending practices.
- Recognize consumer 1-4 family applications and refer them to a consumer loan officer as appropriate.
- Show an innovative outlook to drive continual progress and retention.
- Process Ag loan transactions and assist with transaction inquiries.
- Assist with consumer loan transactions and inquiries.
- Analyze financial statements, cash flows, pay records, and tax returns.
- Present credits and loans for approval to the appropriate authority, as required.
- Be proactive in obtaining new Ag loan customers for the bank.
- Demonstrate the ability to prioritize workload.
- Take Ag applications and approve or reject loan requests in accordance with loan policies and procedures.
- Obtain and maintain a working knowledge of regulatory requirements related to safety, soundness, compliance, and operations.
- Develop referral networks, suggest alternative channels, and cross‑sell products and services to achieve the Bank’s goals.
- Possess strong prioritization and organizational skills.
- Possess an understanding of general business and financial issues.
- Manage multiple concurrent projects.
- Work independently and as part of a group.
- Build and maintain good relationships with co‑workers and other bank personnel.
- Assist co‑workers as needed.
- Hold a valid driver’s license.
- Exemplify the bank’s core values.
- Maintain regular attendance and punctuality.
- Travel for trade and industry schools, seminars, and events as required.
- Install and use a multi‑factor authentication (MFA) app on a personal mobile device, as required.
- Adhere to and comply with all applicable federal and state laws, regulations, and guidance, including those related to BSA/AML.
- Perform other duties as assigned and requested.
- High School diploma or GED (Required).
- Continuing education to maintain job knowledge (Required).
- Three to five years of banking experience (Required).
- Three to five years of customer service experience (Preferred).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Preferred).
