About the job Mortgage Loan Officer (w/base salary)
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Mortgage Loan Officer with at least five years of mortgage lending experience to originate, develop, and manage residential mortgage loan business. The ideal candidate will have a strong network of referral partners, extensive knowledge of mortgage products and regulations, and a proven track record of meeting production goals while providing exceptional customer service.
Key Responsibilities- Originate residential mortgage loans including conventional, FHA, VA, USDA, and jumbo loan products.
- Generate new business through referrals, networking, real estate agents, builders, financial planners, and community outreach.
- Guide borrowers through the mortgage application process from pre-qualification to closing.
- Analyze borrowers' financial information, credit profiles, income, assets, and liabilities to determine loan eligibility.
- Recommend appropriate loan products based on clients' financial goals and circumstances.
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and company lending regulations and policies.
- Collaborate with processors, underwriters, and closing teams to ensure smooth and timely loan closings.
- Monitor loan pipelines and proactively communicate with clients regarding loan status and documentation requirements.
- Meet or exceed monthly and annual loan production goals.
- Stay current on market trends, interest rates, mortgage products, and regulatory changes.
- Minimum 5 years of mortgage lending or mortgage origination experience.
- Proven history of successful loan production and business development.
- Strong understanding of mortgage underwriting guidelines and loan programs.
- Knowledge of federal and state lending regulations, including RESPA, TILA, ECOA, and Fair Lending requirements.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Proficiency with loan origination systems (LOS), CRM platforms, and mortgage technology tools.
- Ability to manage multiple transactions and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Established referral network with real estate professionals and industry partners.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or related field.
- Experience with both purchase and refinance transactions.
- Bilingual skills are a plus.
- Monthly loan volume and funded units.
- Conversion rate from application to closing.
- Customer satisfaction and referral generation.
- Compliance and quality control performance.
- Growth of referral partner relationships.
