Works under the general guidance and direction of the Shift Sergeant or other superior officers as necessary, to perform law enforcement work in the protection of life, property, and the civil rights of individual citizens. Officers of this rank enforce City, County, State and Federal Statutes, laws and ordinances. Police officers preserve peace; prevent, detect and investigate accidents and crimes; arrest violators;

and provide aid and comfort to citizens in emergency situations. General responsibilities include traffic, patrol and general law enforcement, policy community relations, and record keeping and reports.

• Longevity Pay
• After 6 years of continuous employment; 5% of the employee's base rate per month.
• After 10 years of continuous employment;7.5% of the employee's base rate per month.
