The City of Columbus is seeking a motivated and community-focused City Planner to join its Administration Department. This public-facing position is responsible for interpreting and applying the City’s land use ordinances, Comprehensive Plan, and applicable state, county, and local regulations. The City Planner reviews development and land use applications, including plats, site plans, rezoning requests, variances, and permits; coordinates application review with applicants, property owners, consultants, and regulatory bodies;
and prepares written reports, findings, and recommendations for the Planning Commission, Park Board, and City Council. The position also responds to public inquiries, prepares maps and public notices, maintains planning data, and provides staff support at meetings, including evening meetings. This role offers the opportunity to directly shape the City’s growth and development while working in a collaborative municipal environment.
