Supervisory Park Ranger; Interpretation

Summary

You will serve as a Supervisory Park Ranger (Interpretation) at Pipestone National Monument. First time hires to the Federal government normally start at the step 1 rate.

Some of the major duties you will perform include but are not limited to the following:
Carries out a variety of functions in the areas of interpretation, education and visitor services, including short and long-range planning and program research; development of interpretive programming; and development of interpretive media. Serves as a leader within the division and responsible for leading a team of permanent and seasonal staff, volunteers, interns, and others to accomplish established agency and park goals.

Exercises the full range of supervisory responsibilities, including recruiting, hiring, supervising, coaching, training, and evaluating staff. Keeps employees informed of management policies and goals. Ensures the on-the-job safety of employees supervised. Applies an in-depth knowledge of park's complex resources, staying abreast of important research findings related to the park's cultural and natural resources. Seeks resources and funding to appropriately support park priorities for the program, including internal and grant sources.

Skillfully develops project statements, funding requests, and grant applications based on careful planning, coordination with internal and external stakeholders, and knowledge of park needs. Supports extensive partnerships and consultation. Knowledgable in Government-to-Government law, policies, and protocols; supports the superintendent in timely, respectful, and productive dialogue with 38 or more affiliated Tribal Nations related to interpretation and public messaging, utilizing a strong knowledge of cultural protocols, values, and histories.

Develops and maintains strong relationships with educational, tribal, and non-profit organizations that assist with park goals.
