Pharmacist
Position Overview
The Registered Pharmacist provides comprehensive pharmaceutical services in support of outpatient, inpatient, and Emergency Department (ED) operations at the Red Lake Indian Hospital. Services are delivered as non-personal healthcare services in accordance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, Indian Health Service (IHS) policies, and Joint Commission standards. The pharmacist operates as an independent contractor employee and exercises professional judgment in the delivery of pharmaceutical care.
Key Responsibilities
-Review, verify, and clinically assess medication orders for accuracy, safety, and appropriateness-Dispense, prepare, label, and verify medications in accordance with hospital policies and formulary requirements-Provide patient counseling, medication education, and drug-use guidance-Support inpatient and Emergency Department medication needs, including urgent and stat orders-Provide drug information and clinical consultation to physicians, nurses, and clinical staff-Document all pharmaceutical activities accurately within the electronic health record (EHR)-Participate in medication-use evaluations, adverse drug reaction (ADR) reporting, and quality improvement initiatives-Manage inventory and maintain controlled substance accountability and documentation-Operate pharmacy automation and dispensing systems, including Script Pro, Omnicell, and Innovation NEXiA-Maintain compliance with HIPAA, Privacy Act requirements, and all IHS security policies
Work Schedule
-Shifts may include weekdays, weekends, evenings, overnight, holidays, and rotating schedules (e.g., 7-on/7-off)-Shift lengths may be 8, 10, or 12 hours-Up to 80 hours per two-week pay period unless otherwise approved
Required Qualifications
-Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm
D) or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from an ACPE-accredited school-Current, valid, unrestricted pharmacist license in any U.S. state or territory-Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (ACLS preferred)-Demonstrated clinical competence in medication therapy management-Ability to assess renal dosing, drug interactions, contraindications, allergies, and therapeutic appropriateness-Proficiency or ability to quickly adapt to IHS/RPMS EHR and pharmacy automation systems-Ability to provide culturally competent care to Native American and Alaska Native populations
$90 - $100 an hour
Compensation details: 90-100 Hourly Wage
