Job Summary:

  • The PSR II is the first point of contact for patients, representing the company in a professional and compassionate manner.
  • The role includes drawing quality blood specimens, preparing them for lab testing, and ensuring accuracy, safety, and patient comfort.
  • The PSR II demonstrates leadership behaviors, process excellence, and confidentiality while supporting clinical and administrative workflows.

Work Locations:

  • Doctor’s office, Patient Service Center, or other assigned sites based on business needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily activities accurately and on time under the direction of the area supervisor.
  • Maintain a safe and professional environment.
  • Conduct forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing following established procedures.
  • Verify patient demographics, obtain initials/signature post-venipuncture, and ensure tube labeling accuracy.
  • Maintain required records and documentation.
  • Provide excellent patient care by creating trust, explaining procedures, and ensuring comfort during blood draws.
  • Demonstrate organizational commitment and promote a positive image to patients, clients, employees, and the public.
  • Perform Point-of-Care (POC) testing as needed.
  • Manage multiple priorities in a high-volume environment with minimal supervision.

Education / Training:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required).
  • Medical training (Medical Assistant or Paramedic) preferred.
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred (required in CA, NV, WA).

Experience:

  • 1–3 years phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections (required).
  • 2 years in a Patient Service Center environment preferred.
  • Customer service experience in retail or service environment preferred.
  • Keyboard/data entry experience.

Skills / Abilities:

  • Excellent phlebotomy skills.
  • Ability to provide error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime as needed.
  • Strong customer service skills and effective communication.
  • Ability to follow policies, procedures, and Everyday Excellence Guiding Principles.
  • Decision-making based on established procedures and good judgment.
  • Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and clean driving record (if applicable).
  • Ability to cover multiple locations on short notice.
