Salary Range: $31.00 - $49.50
Work collaboratively with Infection Prevention and Control staff under leadership, to accomplish the goals and objectives of the Infection Prevention program. Evaluate infection control trends, practices, and provide educational programs for employees. Possess a basic understanding and working knowledge of microbiology and epidemiology. Responsibilities include surveillance of health care associated infections and reportable illness, evaluation and reporting of statistical information, consultation of asepsis, disinfection, sterilization, isolation, disease transmission and related issues.
Monitor compliance standards and regulations, strategies, and evidence-based aspects. Evaluate and improve performance of patient/resident outcomes. Assist with research needs and special projects as assigned. Understand or be willing to learn computer programs and applications necessary for data collection and analysis. Possess good interpersonal skills and willingness to seek out new information and knowledge. Able to think critically and solve problems effectively.
- Bachelor’s degree required. In lieu of education, leadership may consider an Associate’s degree and 5 years of applicable experience.
- If degree is in nursing, graduate from a nationally accredited nursing program preferred, including, but not limited to, CCNE, ACEN, and NLN CNEA.
- Minimum of two years experience in clinical, nursing, healthcare safety, infection prevention, accreditation or healthcare management setting required.
- Certification in Infection Prevention and Control (CIC®) or equivalent preferred.
- If a licensed registered nurse (RN), currently hold an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where practice occurs and/or possess multistate licensure if in an NLC state. Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications.
