Chemical Dependency Counselor

The Minnesota Sex Offender Program (MSOP) is a residential, sex offense specific treatment program in a modified therapeutic community and secure setting and provides services to over 700 individuals who have been civilly committed for sexual offending. MSOP is a national leader in the industry and is committed to providing services on the leading edge of the comprehensive evaluation, treatment, and management of clients.

MSOP has facilities in Moose Lake and St. Peter, MN. MSOP Moose Lake site serves clients in the earlier stages of treatment in a secure setting.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Provides professional chemical dependency assessment, counseling, and education for patients with an identified substance abuse and/or dependence.
  • Coordinate the development of the individualized treatment plan as related to substance abuse.
  • Deliver psycho-educational curriculums.
  • Co-facilitate group therapy.
  • Prepare written documentation for internal and external audiences.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, or related field AND one year of experience providing behavioral health services in a mental health and/or sex offense specific treatment setting.
  • OR Master’s degree in psychology, social work, or related field, which included training or experience in providing behavioral health services, including individual and group therapy.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience providing behavioral health services to clients with substance use disorders.
  • Experience in substance abuse counseling.
