DEPARTMENT: Salon and Spa – Massage Therapist
REPORTS TO: Director of Retail
SummaryThis part‑time year‑round position is responsible for performing therapeutic massages on clients to improve circulation, relieve stress, promote relaxation, and alleviate pain from injuries or chronic conditions. The role customizes treatments based on client needs, maintains detailed records, and upholds professional standards of hygiene and conduct.
Education and Experience- Minimum age 18 years.
- Prior massage experience required.
- Perform a variety of massage techniques, including regular massage and deep tissue therapy.
- Assess clients’ needs and create personalized treatment plans.
- Explain massage procedures and answer client questions before beginning treatments.
- Adhere to all state and local licensing laws and regulations.
- Keep up to date with continuing education and best practices in massage therapy.
- Maintain equipment and supplies, and report any maintenance issues.
- Manage client bookings, payments, and customer records as needed.
- Upsell additional services and products when appropriate.
- Follow salon policies and comply with health and safety regulations.
- Keep bathrooms clean and stocked, storerooms organized, dust and clean regularly, including windows and floors.
- Foster positive working relationships and communication with all departments.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of an accredited massage therapy program.
- Valid massage therapy license or certification as required by the state or local agencies.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and massage techniques.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Physical stamina and manual dexterity.
- Ability to handle confidential client information professionally.
- Customer‑service focused and empathetic demeanor.
- Stand, walk, sit, kneel, lift, push, pull, and reach with arms and hands.
- Move objects weighing up to forty (40) pounds.
