Walgreens is seeking a full‑time Certified Pharmacy Technician to manage day‑to‑day non‑clinical pharmacy operations. The role emphasizes efficient workflow, customer service, and compliance with state and federal regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Accountable for performing day‑to‑day non‑clinical pharmacy operations and administrative activities when permitted by state and federal laws and regulations, ensuring efficient pharmacy workflow and a positive patient experience.
  • Operate pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions. Supervise pharmacy technicians and pharmacy cashiers under the guidance of a pharmacist, adhering to company policies, laws, regulations, and business ethics.
  • Select, schedule, and develop pharmacy technician personnel. Lead training, coaching, and performance management, including discipline and termination decisions.
Customer Experience
  • Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services. Resolve customer complaints and provide timely responses to non‑clinical questions, ensuring a positive experience.
  • Develop strong relationships with customers by anticipating needs and proactively offering services, enhancing the customer experience with a focus on healthcare services.
Operations
  • Assist the pharmacist in patient care tasks: registration, prescription data entry, medication preparation, counting, and verification (where allowed by law). Complete patient and physician calls under pharmacist supervision (where allowed).
  • Assist with healthcare service offerings such as administering vaccines, health screenings, and other permitted services under pharmacist supervision.
  • Delegate, direct, and assign non‑clinical work within company policies and state/federal laws, ensuring tasks are completed on time and hold others accountable for workflow.
  • Prepare and file reports and records required by the company and government agencies at the direction of the Pharmacy Manager or pharmacist.
  • Manage core pharmacy workflow, coordinate daily schedule of activities, recommend allocation of pharmacy hours, and maintain a clean, orderly, and well‑stocked pharmacy.
  • Ensure compliance with all business administrative activities and inventory management tasks that do not require pharmacist licensure, managing annual inventory preparation.
  • Complete non‑clinical patient calls, drive new technology/process roll‑out, champion change, and engage the team around action planning.
  • Ensure proper operation and maintenance of pharmacy department equipment and maintain security safeguards under company policies.
  • Adhere to the Walgreen Co. Good Faith Dispensing policy during prescription dispensing activities, ensuring that the elements are met.
  • Apply company asset protection techniques, support diversion monitoring, and report concerns that compromise pharmacy security to the Pharmacy Manager.
  • Communicate prescription errors to the accountable pharmacist and adhere to company policies regarding pharmacy errors and the Continuous Quality Improvement Program.
  • Accurately process insurance claims, resolve customer issues, and follow up with insurance companies and medical providers, participating in third‑party audits.
  • Assist Store Manager and Pharmacy Manager in analyzing and improving pharmacy financials, operational quality, and customer service.
  • Manage the Community Outreach Portal, coordinate off‑site immunization clinics and community events, and build relationships with retail partners.
People & Performance Management
  • Lead performance management of technicians, making decisions regarding discipline and termination, following the constructive discipline policy and ensuring compliance with laws.
  • Hold technicians accountable for attendance, timeliness, and training completion, and monitor licensing, registrations, and certifications for compliance.
  • Identify gaps in pharmacy operations knowledge and support team members through hands‑on training or learning modules.
  • Ensure proper procedures for selection, recruitment, record retention, and training, as required by company policy and law.
