Mission Heights Supportive Housing Program

Mission Heights Supportive Housing Program features 14 beds with two accompanied 2-bedroom apartments located in Columbia Heights, MN. The 14-bed lodge provides single-room occupancy for adult clients (18+) of all genders who range in their backgrounds, including substance use and/or mental illness, homelessness, domestic violence, or other forms of trauma. All need a healing-centered place of belonging.

This position will provide supportive services and a secure, safe environment for residents; maintain the confidentiality of all residents; monitor medication; assist in resident transportation; answer incoming calls; conduct random urinalysis drug/alcohol screenings; make a visual check of all residents and document residents' status; assist with meals; provide crisis intervention; complete clerical and other tasks; work well with people from diverse cultural, social, and economic backgrounds, and have an awareness of culturally specific resources.

Position

Responsibilities
  • Have complete knowledge of emergency procedures and all forms that accompany these procedures and attend quarterly emergency procedures reviews.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all residents in accordance with confidentiality laws.
  • Uphold the policies and procedures of the program and of Missions. Inc.
  • Attendance at staff meetings and in-service training.
  • Assist in resident transportation.
  • Answer incoming telephone calls.
  • Monitor medication and note any discrepancies in the daily and medication logs.
  • Conduct random urinalysis drug/alcohol screenings.
  • Make a visual check of residents and document residents' status.
  • Complete a building check three times per shift.
  • Conduct bedroom inspections.
  • Provide individual and class advocacy with social services, economic assistance, mental health, medical, and criminal justice systems on behalf of residents.
  • Coordinate recreational and group activities with residents.
  • Complete intake with residents and ensures that each new resident is oriented into the program.
  • Assign room; distribute linen and personal items to new residents. Provide information on available resources and options to assist residents in designing their goals and objectives.
  • Review goals sheets bi-weekly with assigned residents and document in-progress notes.
  • Update resident progress notes as needed with other pertinent information.
  • Complete pre-admission interview forms with potential residents and coordinate intakes.
  • Develop and maintain resource information.
  • Facilitate groups.
  • Complete clerical and other tasks as requested by the Program Manager.
Experience and Qualifications
  • An understanding and sensitivity to the unique problems encountered by people experiencing homelessness, mental illness, and substance use disorder;
  • Have an excellent working knowledge of AA/NA and other recovery programs;
  • Computer proficiency required; including the ability to use e-mail, navigate the internet, and complete basic data entry in a database system;
  • The ability to work well with people from diverse racial, cultural, social, and economic backgrounds;
  • An awareness of culturally specific resources;
  • Able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds; able to bend, stoop, kneel and climb (ascend and descend) flights of stairs;
  • Understand substance use disorder and the needs of residents in recovery.
Compensation

Hourly wage: $15.23 - 16.80/hour depending on experience and qualifications. We offer.
40 cents differential pay for overnight shifts and .50 cents for weekend shifts.

Hours available for overnights and weekend, PT shifts
