Job Summary
Lead Direct Support Professional Behavior Specialist assists clients with all activities of daily living, personal care, and program implementation. Responsible for the clients’ well‑being and safety while ensuring adequate supervision and supporting the home environment.
ScheduleWeek 1:
Mon 8am‑10am, Tues 8am‑3pm, Wed 8am‑10am, Thurs 8am‑3pm, Fri 8am‑10am
Week 2:
Mon 8am‑10am, Tues 8am‑3pm, Wed 8am‑10am, Thurs 8am‑3pm, Fri 8am‑10am
$19.00 per hour
Weekend differential +$2.00 per hour for hours between Fri 10pm and Sun 10pm
Overnight differential +$1.00 per hour for hours between 10pm and 6am (sleep hours only when assigned)
Key Duties and Responsibilities- Assist clients with daily cares, medical needs, ADLs, and mental health supports.
- Provide opportunities for choice, creativity, and independence in daily routines such as hygiene, domestic tasks, leisure, grooming, socializing, budgeting, safety, and community participation.
- Plan and implement recreation, leisure, and community activities.
- Drive and accompany clients to appointments and activities using a company vehicle.
- Support clients in establishing and maintaining community relationships and friendships.
- Implement programs in accordance with the Coordinated Service and Support Plan (CSSP), CSSP‑Addendum (CSSP‑A), and Individual Abuse Prevention Plan.
- Deliver person‑centered services through consistent practice, action, and language.
- Maintain current knowledge of clients’ histories, skills, vulnerabilities, habilitation plans, and emergency procedures.
- Participate in the support‑team process and assist with goal development and implementation.
- Administer and document all prescribed medication, treatments, diets, or exams as directed by CSSP or CSSP‑A.
- Maintain confidentiality in line with HIPAA and MORA policies.
- Prepare meals and complete weekly food ordering as needed.
- Assist with daily housekeeping and household maintenance.
- Conduct house quality improvement assessments and address identified issues.
- Ensure adequate supervision of clients and remain on shift until a replacement arrives.
- Work harmoniously with all internal and external individuals and show respect.
- Communicate effectively in verbal and written form, using the primary spoken language of each client.
- Complete all mandatory training as required by MORA or 245D regulations.
- Read and follow company policies and procedures.
- Remain awake at all times unless working an assigned sleeping shift.
- Accurately document program data and daily logs in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with the team to complete other duties as assigned.
- Train new staff on client mental‑health outcomes, supportive strategies, behavior programming, and specific diagnoses.
- Collaborate with the Program Supervisor and Positive Supports Manager on mental‑health outcome development.
- Complete training on specific mental‑health diagnoses for supported clients.
- Ensure staff log data on behavioral and mental‑health programming with the Program Coordinator.
- Experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a mental‑health capacity.
- 3–5 years of experience with clients with intellectual and developmental disabilities and mental‑health needs.
- 3–5 years of experience in Positive Supports and mental‑health outcomes.
- Proven leadership skills.
- Strong ability to support a team in understanding client mental‑health needs and working closely with the inter‑disciplinary team (PC, PS, Nurse, PD).
- Pass the Department of Human Services background check and maintain qualified status.
- Not be excluded from working in government health programs by the Office of Inspector General.
- Successfully complete the company’s physical job demands document.
- Maintain a valid driver’s license and insurance if using a personal vehicle for company business.
- Complete Medication Administration class with a score of 80% or greater and administer medications accurately.
- Be proficient with computers and align usage with client needs and company procedures.
