Location: Aitkin
- Base Pay $16.00 - $16.00 / Hour
As a Life Skills Trainer, you empower individuals to develop essential skills for independent living and community integration. You play a vital role in fostering personal growth and enhancing the quality of life for those you support. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by providing tailored training and support to help individuals achieve their goals.
RequirementsRequired Qualifications Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required
.
- Minimum of one year of experience in providing direct support to individuals with disabilities or other special needs.
- Experience in developing and implementing life skills training programs preferred
.
- Delivers life skills training programs that address areas such as budgeting, cooking, hygiene, and social skills.
- Implements behavior management strategies to support positive behavior and reduce challenging behaviors.
- Provides individualized support and guidance to clients based on their unique needs and goals.
- Maintains accurate and up-to-date documentation of client progress, training activities, and interventions.
- Participates in case management activities, including assessments, service planning, and coordination with other professionals.
- Connects clients with community resources and support services to promote independence and integration.
- Communicates effectively with clients, families, and other team members to ensure coordinated and consistent support.
- Demonstrates empathy and patience when working with clients who may have diverse needs and challenges.
- Proficiency in life skills training techniques and behavior management strategies.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Knowledge of community resources and support services.
- Certification in a related field (e.g., Certified Rehabilitation Counselor).
- Experience working with specific populations (e.g., individuals with autism, mental health conditions).
- Ability to perform physical activities such as lifting, bending, and walking.
- Ability to work in a variety of settings, including residential homes, community centers, and client homes.
- Must possess a valid driver's license
- Must be able to pass a MN DHS background study
