SummaryUnder immediate supervision, performs work of routine difficulty in assisting the operating team in preparing for surgical procedures, assists with indirect and direct patient care, scrubs and assists during the surgical procedure and knows proper cleanup of instruments and the operating room.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities- Assist the surgeon during surgery by passing instruments and other equipment in a prescribed manner.
- Perform a correct sponge, instrument, and needle count and coordinate with the circulating nurse to assure accuracy.
- Collaborate with the nurse in handling tissue specimens and maintain proper labeling.
- Assist the circulating nurse in case preparation, cleaning and arranging furniture of the operating room.
- Provide necessary supplies and equipment for operative procedures based on hospital procedure and surgeon’s protocol.
- Prep the sterile table for each procedure, ensuring required instruments are available.
- Perform proper cleanup and sterilization of instruments, linens, and operating room, maintaining sterile technique.
- Accurately inventory, order, and stock supplies, checking in supplies and equipment needed for each surgical procedure.
- Assume related work as assigned by manager.
Scheduled 6 day shifts per 2 week pay period. Call rotation includes evening/night, weekend and holiday call shifts.
Call1 in 4 call rotation. 1 week night/week, every 4th weekend and every 4th holiday. On call response time is 45 minutes to participate in emergent trauma situations. Response time is 20 minutes when an OB is in active labor. Will be in house for all VBAC/TOLAC labors from active labor until delivery.
Pay Range$25.50 - $39.53 per hour, actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.
