Ophthalmology - Full‑Time, 40 hours
- Hours:
Monday‑Friday 7:45 am‑4:15 pm; when covering for another provider, hours may vary from 7:30 am‑5 pm - Travel:
Expected to clinics in Glen Ellyn, Naperville, and Bloomingdale

- Interact with all patients using respect and professionalism.
- Communicate with patients about the processes and procedures taking place during their visit.
- Ascertain patient needs and unusual circumstances, via patient or family member.
- Seek advice from more senior staff or doctors as necessary, never performing beyond capabilities.
- Provide telephone support regarding ocular emergencies, prescription refills and patient care questions.
- Adhere to approved policies and procedures.
- Obtain patient history to include chief complaint, history of present illness, past history, family history and history of allergies and medications.
- Complete accurate, concise documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
- Perform accurate and consistent patient care procedures, including but not limited to: visual acuity, confrontational visual fields, evaluation of motility and pupillary function tests, applanation tonometry and tono‑pen tonometry, refractometry, angle assessment and dilation of pupils, automated visual field testing, ophthalmic imaging, retina and optic nerve scanning (OCT), corneal topography, keratometry and pachymetry.
- Assist in maintaining the exam rooms by cleaning between patients and at the end of the day.
- Cleans and sterilizes instruments.
- Prepare for certification test.
- Maintain HIPAA compliance.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) or currently in the process of obtaining certification.
- Must obtain COT certification within one year of being employed.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working in an ophthalmology/optometry setting.
- Fundamental experience working with standard ophthalmic evaluation equipment.
The compensation for this role includes a base pay range of $20.55‑30.85 with the actual pay determined by factors such as skills, experience, education, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity. Additional compensation may be available through shift differentials, bonuses, and other incentives. Base pay is only a portion of the total rewards package.
