Responsibilities
Patient Access Coordinators (PAC) are the gateway to care for our applicants to become patients with one‑call resolution. PACs answer live calls, conducting a high‑level assessment to determine clinical appropriateness for a Hazelden Betty Ford facility and verifying benefits. They collaborate with other organizational roles to resolve callers’ needs in the first call and set up an appointment for a clinical assessment when appropriate.
Customer service and sales skills and the ability to multi‑task are essential.
- Utilize customer service and sales skills to provide resolution to callers’ needs.
- Conduct screening to determine clinical fit for Hazelden Betty Ford substance abuse services.
- Obtain financial and insurance/benefit information to determine eligibility for programs available through HBFF locations.
- Manage patient caseload to ensure conversions to admission.
- Ensure appropriate documentation is recorded in patient records to facilitate complete and accurate registration in the EHR.
- Associate’s degree or equivalent experience (three years).
- 3 years customer service experience.
- 1 year call center or health care experience.
- Strong technology/computer skills, including experience with Medical EHR and navigating various system applications.
- Experience working with health care insurance and finances.
- Recovery and 12‑step knowledge.
- Experience in a chemical dependency or behavioral health setting.
