This role plays an important part in ensuring accurate and timely insurance billing while supporting patients with billing questions and helping maintain the financial health of our organization.

Position SummaryThe Billing Specialist is responsible for submitting and managing clinic and outpatient insurance claims while providing technical support related to patient billing. This position works closely with clinical departments, providers, and patients to ensure accurate billing, timely reimbursement, and excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities- Submit clinic and outpatient claims to insurance carriers
- Monitor claims through billing systems and clearinghouses
- Follow up on outstanding, denied, or rejected claims and refile when necessary
- Manage denial and rejection workflows to ensure timely resolution
- File secondary payer claims
- Monitor Accounts Receivable aging and financial reports
- Respond to and resolve patient billing inquiries professionally and efficiently
- Research outstanding balances and assist with collection resolution activities
- Assist with month-end billing processes
- Support patient financial counseling as a backup resource
- Communicate billing documentation needs with providers and clinical staff
- Maintain accurate billing processes and documentation standards
- Participate in educational programs, meetings, and insurance updates as needed
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Healthcare experience recommended
- Healthcare billing or insurance knowledge preferred
- Certification through AAPC or AHIMA preferred
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Knowledge of insurance processes, EOB/COB data, and billing workflows
- Ability to problem-solve and work collaboratively across departments
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Comfort working with electronic systems and billing software
