• Avera requires an active MN CNA or enrollment in an MN CNA class that ends within 30 days of applying, to be considered for this position.

• Casual/As Needed:
  Casual employees are required to work a minimum of 4 shifts per month, two of which must be a weekend shift (Friday, Saturday or Sunday) at the request of the facility.

Accountable for providing direct, personal care and services to residents in the skilled nursing facility, meeting the physical, academic, social, and spiritual needs on a daily basis to maintain and improve their highest level of independent function.

• Provides assistance to residents with activities of daily living.
• Performs routine duties and non‑routine duties as directed by nursing staff, including assisting patients with bathing and dressing needs, shaving, oral hygiene, bed making, transfers, repositioning, toileting needs, serving and collecting food trays, encouraging and/or assisting with feeding, answering call lights, maintaining a clean environment, transporting patients upon admission and dismissal, assisting with ambulation, and orienting residents to the facility environment to ensure safety.
• Performs blood pressure, pulse, temperature, respiration and weight measurements and documents concise and factual information on the appropriate forms.
• Performs or assists residents in performing specific medical care activities in accordance with established policy and procedure to contribute to the patient’s plan of care, including restorative exercises, collecting specimens as directed by nursing staff, assessing and documenting completed cares, and providing feedback to nursing staff on status or changes in patient conditions, pain management, and other important concerns.
• Assists with restocking supplies and maintaining the appropriate work environment in the unit, including cleaning procedures.
• Participates in providing emotional, educational, and spiritual support for families.
• Complies with all aspects of resident rights including confidentiality and privacy, and reports all allegations of resident abuse or misappropriation of resident property.
• Understands and follows established policy and procedures related to fire, tornado, evacuation, disaster plan, universal precautions, infection control procedures, hazardous and chemical communication program, maintaining an environment that is clean and safe for all residents, families and staff.

The individual must be able to work the hours specified and perform each essential job function satisfactorily, including having visual acuity adequate to perform position duties and the ability to communicate effectively, hear, understand and distinguish speech and other sounds. • Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) – Licensing Board in the state of practice within 120 days.

• High School or GED Equivalent.
• Less than 1 year related experience or training.
