Mayo Clinic is seeking a Clinical Lab Technologist to join our Laboratory Services team. In this role, you will perform complex clinical testing, analyze and validate results, operate and maintain laboratory instruments, and ensure regulatory and quality standards are met. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver accurate, timely diagnostics supporting patient-centered care. Responsibilities
- Perform moderate and high complexity clinical laboratory tests in accordance with established procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Receive, verify, and process patient specimens, ensuring correct identification, labeling, and handling to maintain specimen integrity.
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain automated analyzers and related laboratory equipment, documenting all maintenance activities.
- Run and evaluate quality control samples, identify shifts or trends, and take corrective action to ensure test accuracy and reliability.
- Validate and interpret test results, correlate with quality control data, and release verified results through the laboratory information system.
- Recognize and promptly report critical or life-threatening results to the appropriate provider or clinical team member.
- Follow CLIA, CAP, Joint Commission, and institutional standards, policies, and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance and patient safety.
- Apply infection prevention and biosafety protocols, including appropriate PPE usage and safe handling and disposal of biohazardous materials.
- Troubleshoot instrument, reagent, or testing issues and escalate complex problems to senior technologists or supervisors as needed.
- Participate in method validations, proficiency testing, quality improvement initiatives, and implementation of new technologies or assays.
- Collaborate with pathologists, providers, nurses, and colleagues to support coordinated, patient-centered care.
- Assist with training, orientation, or competency assessment of new staff, students, or rotating personnel as directed by leadership.
