Essential Duties:
Receives patients and visitors and ascertains their needs to assist them using a caring and professional manner.
Secures demographic and financial information from patients or family, obtains necessary signatures and enters information into the electronic health record to complete the registration process.
Schedules appointments and maintains provider schedules.
Operates telephone console using a caring and professional manners to assist callers, answers questions and transfers calls to correct departments when appropriate.
Ensures referrals are addressed and completed in a timely manner.
Works department work queues as assigned. Determines if procedure/service needs or requires authorization.
This position may require evenings, nights, rotating weekends, rotating holidays and different work schedules; and may also float to other Patient Access department locations to cover when needed.

Physical Requirements:
Sedentary Duty: exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects including the human body (based on U.S. Department of Labor data). The following physical activities are required to perform this job:
Occasionally (up to 33% of work time):
Standing, walking, reaching, lifting.
Frequently (34-66% of work time):
Sitting, handling, talking, hearing, near acuity vision.
Education:
Post secondary education with an emphasis on office practices; or combined years of relevant education and experience to perform the essential duties of this position.
