Elbow Lake Medical Center – Elbow Lake, MN 56531. Position Type: 64 Hours Biweekly.
Salary: $26.40 - $41.09 hourly. Sign‑on bonus of $5,000 with a two‑year work commitment.
ResponsibilitiesThe MLT or MLS performs a wide range of clearly defined analyses at acceptable levels of competency and on a timely basis. These analyses require independent judgment as delegated by the supervisor and involve routine laboratory procedures performed carefully and conscientiously. The employee reports unusual conditions to the supervisor, maintains professional communication with patients, co‑workers and physicians, and assists or carries out physician orders with accurate documentation.
CompensationHourly wage range for MLT candidates: $26.40 - $33.79. Hourly wage range for MLS candidates: $30.52-$41.09. Final compensation is based on experience, qualifications and internal equity considerations.
Shift ScheduleRotating shifts including week, night and weekend call; 64 hours biweekly.

Qualifications- Education/Special Skills (MLT): High school diploma or equivalent. Two years associate degree in applied science, clinical laboratory science preferred. Lab training culminating in National Certification. MLT (ASCP or equivalent) required upon hire, or must be obtained within six months. Proficient professional communication. Willingness to earn BLS certification within the first year. Ability to operate all lab equipment.
- Physical Demands (MLT): Ability to do repetitive motions with hand, wrist and fingers; fingertip touch perception for locating blood vessels. Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations.
- Other Requirements (MLT): Successful completion of pre‑employment health screening. Ability to attend the work site per schedule and take rotational call. May require limited unscheduled hours and shift changes to accommodate workload and labor shortage. Adequate computer and typing skills.
- Education/Special Skills (MLS): Bachelor of Science degree with internship under a Pathologist in an approved laboratory. HHS‑approved laboratory certification (ASCP or AMT) required; if not registered, must pass registry within first twelve months. Maintain active certification; renewal verified at least two months before expiration.
- Other Requirements (MLS): Ability to communicate effectively in English, orally and in writing. Follow detailed blood collection and lab procedures. Assist in research and development of new lab procedures as required by pathologist and technical supervisor.
