Join a dynamic healthcare team as a Patient Access Specialist, where you will play a vital role in supporting patients, staff, and third-party payers by efficiently managing patient access and revenue cycle responsibilities. This position involves various roles such as operator, emergency department registration, and patient greeting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct pre-registration for all patient types, ensuring no duplicate medical record or account numbers are created. This includes gathering demographic and insurance information via phone or during pre-procedure encounters, entering data accurately, and assembling patient-specific packets.
  • Manage patient registrations by scanning insurance cards, verifying and entering demographic and insurance data, preparing necessary documentation, coordinating room assignments with nursing units or bed control, obtaining required signatures, and guiding patients to appropriate departments.
  • Handle special cases such as infectious patients with care and provide all patients with informational brochures about their rights and responsibilities.
  • Complete Medicare Secondary Payer Questionnaires and ensure accurate registration edits before forwarding to billing.
  • Process patient transfers and discharges efficiently.
  • Follow up on outstanding signatures, Medicaid eligibility, and Medicare Secondary Payer documentation.

Education and Experience:

- High school diploma or equivalent required, with a focus on office skills.

- Vocational training or on-the-job experience in computer operations and switchboard use is essential.

- Familiarity with medical terminology and healthcare business office procedures is advantageous. This role is based in a regional healthcare setting within the Midwest and offers a 4th shift schedule with approximately 36 hours per week.
