ASCP Nutrition Services Specialist

Join a dedicated team focused on delivering exceptional nutritional care and pleasant mealtime experiences to patients in a regional healthcare setting within the Midwest. This role involves providing physician-ordered nutritional services tailored to individual patient preferences, ensuring prompt and accurate handling of balanced menus.

Key Responsibilities
  • Call Center Specialist: Efficiently obtain and process meal orders from patients and visitors via telephone, ensuring orders meet dietary requirements and coordinating with production and tray line teams. Serve as a liaison between nutrition services, patients, and nursing units, addressing concerns and maintaining accurate electronic records.
  • Room Service Specialist: Professionally serve meals, assist patients with meal ordering systems, assess patient capabilities, and communicate effectively with dietitians and nursing staff. Monitor patient needs related to meal service and ensure proper documentation such as calorie counts.
  • Expeditor: Coordinate meal assembly during tray line processes, verify meal accuracy, ensure timely delivery, maintain food quality and safety standards, and communicate with food service staff to uphold patient satisfaction.
  • Food Service Starter: Initiate meal assembly, check food acceptability, replenish supplies, follow food handling protocols, operate cooking equipment safely, and assist with meal delivery and cleanup tasks.
Education and Experience

A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred. Previous experience in nutrition services or food service within a healthcare environment is beneficial.

Work Schedule

This is a full-time position with a 1st shift schedule, approximately 37.5 hours per week, including rotating holidays and weekends.

This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a compassionate approach to patient care. Candidates should be comfortable working collaboratively across departments to ensure quality nutritional services.
