Access Advocate | Patient Registration Specialist

Wood Lake, MN $32,099 - $42,099 a year

Join a dynamic healthcare team as a Patient Access Advocate, supporting patients, staff, and third-party payers by efficiently managing Patient Access and Revenue Cycle responsibilities. This role involves various duties such as operating the switchboard, emergency department registration, and greeting patients with a warm and professional approach.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct pre-registration for all patient types, ensuring no duplicate medical records or accounts are created. This includes collecting demographic and insurance information via phone or during pre-procedure encounters, entering data accurately into the system, and preparing patient packets.
  • Manage patient registrations by scanning insurance cards, verifying and entering demographic and insurance details, assembling necessary documentation, coordinating room assignments with nursing units or bed control, obtaining required signatures, and guiding patients to appropriate departments.
  • Handle special cases such as infectious patients with care and provide all patients with informational brochures about their rights and responsibilities.
  • Edit and prepare registrations meticulously before forwarding to billing.
  • Process patient transfers and discharges efficiently.
  • Follow up on outstanding signatures, Medicaid eligibility, and Medicare Secondary Payer Questionnaires.

Education and Experience:

- High school diploma or equivalent required or in progress, with a focus on office skills.

- Vocational training or on-the-job experience in computer operations and switchboard management is essential.

- Familiarity with medical terminology and healthcare business office procedures is advantageous. This position offers varied shifts within a regional healthcare setting in the Midwest, providing an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to patient care and administrative excellence.
