Job Summary:
Provide evaluation and treatment for musculoskeletal, vascular, and neurological conditions tailored to each patient. Deliver education and preventative care to patients, their families, healthcare associates, and the broader community. Act as a liaison among patients, families, physicians, nursing staff, and social services to ensure coordinated care.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Utilize clinical expertise and sound judgment to care for patients across all age groups, from pediatric to geriatric, ensuring high-quality treatment including evaluation, planning, implementation, education, safety procedures, and communication with involved parties.
- Operate therapeutic equipment such as ultrasound, electrical stimulation, mechanical traction, exercise devices, wound care tools, and hospital beds.
- Guide patients in the use of assistive devices, braces, orthotics, prosthetics, and orthopedic equipment.
- Assist patients with mobility, strengthening exercises, muscle reeducation, gait training, activities of daily living, and functional training.
- Adapt therapy techniques for patients who have difficulty understanding verbal instructions or performing exercises independently.
- Document patient care in compliance with regulatory and departmental standards.
- Engage in continuous quality improvement activities including peer review and patient care evaluation.
- Maintain excellent communication and customer service skills with patients, families, and colleagues.
- Supervise aides, students, and volunteers as needed.
- Support departmental functions and participate in staff education and self-directed professional development.
Education and Experience:
Graduation from an accredited Physical, Occupational, or Speech Therapy program recognized by relevant national associations. Continuing education relevant to clinical practice is encouraged. A minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree is required.
Licensure and
Certifications:
Must hold or be eligible for licensure in the applicable state. CPR certification is mandatory.
Work Environment:
Day shift position with flexible scheduling on an as-needed basis in a regional healthcare setting within the Midwest.
