- Provide extraordinary customer service to patients in person and by phone
- Greet patients and verify demographics
- Create, scan, and route documents or electronic forms
- Explain documents and capture signatures on necessary paperwork
- Establish and assign financial responsibility and assist with payment arrangements
- Collect co-payments, pre-payments, and account balance payments
- Resolve registration errors or denied insurance claims through the registration work queue
- Coordinate and schedule appointments with nursing teams and providers
- Obtain and coordinate referrals and conduct pre-authorization
- Arrange interpreter services
- Check patients in and out
- Operate a multi-line phone
- Resolve work queue issues, manage recalls and waitlists, and serve as a switchboard operator
- Prepare and coordinate charts
- Organize supporting provider documents
- Initiate and collaborate on patient financial assistance
- Track patient visits and health information on patient accounts
- Compile, distribute, administer, and score assessments
- Coordinate telemedicine appointments
- Make appointment reminder calls
- Process hospital admissions
- Perform office duties such as copying and faxing
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Post-secondary education helpful
- One year of work experience, preferably in a medical office setting
- Medical terminology helpful
- Customer service skills essential
- Six months' customer service experience desired
- May require BLS for certain locations and/or settings
Demonstrates strong customer service skills while managing patient interactions, coordinating appointments, and handling financial responsibilities in a medical office environment. Proficient in processing documentation and resolving registration issues to ensure efficient patient care.
