Summary The Pharmacy Assistant/Clerk/Delivery Person is responsible for completing the transaction process for customers in a friendly, accurate and timely fashion. He/she will also be responsible for many of the day-to-day operations of the pharmacy and professionally interacting with patients and other Health System Staff. He/she will also have to deliver medications to patients within the city limits of Pine City.

- Positively greet and engage all patients and customers as they enter the pharmacy or on the telephone
- Be able to communicate refill requests from patients to the technicians or pharmacists
- Properly respond to or triage questions from patients, customers, coworkers or other Health System staff, whether via phone or face-to-face
- Ability to key sales into cash register
- Ability to collect payment and properly give proper change to patient
- Properly package final product to be given or mailed to patient. This includes verification of correct patient by using at least 2 pieces of demographic information(i.e. name, date of birth, phone number, address, etc.). Employee will not offer this information, but rather have patient confirm his/her information
- Obtain signatures as required by pharmacy, i.e. credit card authorizations, prescription pick-up, non-safety cap designation, methamphetamine precursor sales
- Understand methamphetamine precursor laws and be able to process sale of these medications
- Be able to maintain a neat, organized drawer and an accurate count in register
- Be able to count down and balance drawer at end of shift
- Use his or her pharmaceutical knowledge to help pharmacist ensure each patient is receiving a safe and affordable medication
- Accurately triage questions from providers and patients
- Accurately receive, unpack, and check merchandise to ensure it is received properly and in acceptable condition
- Separate and place invoices in proper location
- Manage shelves to ensure expired medications are removed and designated to be sent to appropriate company for return/credit
- Help maintain inventory of over-the-counter (OTC) items and be able to help patients locate them on shelves
- Update electronic OTC pharmacy inventory as necessary
- Be able to look-up and order OTC medications we do not currently stock
- Monitor patients and customers in store to prevent loss
- Help maintain overall neatness of entire pharmacy to help create a professional workplace environment
- Maintain neat working environment to help ensure accurate completion of transaction
- Help ensure areas visible to patient are dusted regularly and floors are kept clean and free of garbage
- Ensure completed prescription drawers are dusted and presented in a clean, organized fashion
- Help with ordering/stocking of caps, vials, labels, bags, paper, and other office supplies
- Organize, display and clean OTC shelves
- Helps to file, sort and organize hard copy prescriptions for storage/disposal
