This role is open in Europe, but preferred location is set in Helsinki (Finland) or in one of our Motion key locations. The work model is hybrid#LI-hybrid.
As for any global role, flexibility to work with our colleagues in the Americas (US time zone) will be expected.
Our global strategic initiative eCommerce for ABB Motion (ABB Shop) aims to deliver a superior customer experience by providing a digital one-stop shop for ABB’s customers and enabling high-quality interactions throughout the buying journey. The business priorities for eCommerce are centered around increasing adoption, driving productivity, and realizing additional growth.
As a Senior UX Designer part of our UX team, you will play a key role in driving adoption, utilization, and revenue growth for the ABB Shop platform. You will act as the bridge between platform users and internal stakeholders, shaping and improving user interactions, and ensuring alignment with customer needs. You will work on strategic features and experiments, taking them from discovery to implementation.
Your focus will be on enhancing the user interface and ensuring that the platform is user-friendly and meets business objectives. You will collaborate closely with the UX Lead to define success metrics and evaluate business practices to ensure a continuously improved customer experience. You will also contribute to the broader UX team by sharing your work and mentoring junior team members.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the delivery of strategic and foundational features of ABB Shop with a focus on user experience design.
- Create user journey maps based on customer insights to guide product development and prioritize the product backlog.
- Collaborate with UX/UI designers, developers, product owners, and clients to ensure alignment between the UX vision and project goals.
- Gather and synthesize feedback from stakeholders to ensure that products meet both business and customer needs.
- Use data-driven insights and user empathy to design innovative solutions.
- Apply design thinking methodologies to explore and test ideas before development.
- Champion user needs within the team and advocate for human-centered design decisions.
- Solve complex challenges by balancing user goals, accessibility, business requirements, and technical constraints.
- Contribute to improving UX delivery processes and workflows.
- Conduct expert reviews of existing user interfaces and suggest usability improvements.
- Perform competitive analysis to benchmark against best-in-class interaction design.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in digital design, User Experience, Human-Computer Interaction, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in UX design, preferably in B2B environments, with a strong portfolio showing shipped products (Web, WPF, iOS, Android).
- Experience working in agile development environments (SAFe certification is a plus).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize user and business needs.
- In-depth understanding of UX design principles and human-centered design methodologies (e.g., user research, personas, journey mapping, high-fidelity prototyping).
- Advanced knowledge of B2B customer experience, ideally in eCommerce.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage cross-functional stakeholders at all levels.
- Proficiency to develop and maintain a local Design System in FIGMA.
- Familiarity with Magento / Adobe Commerce platforms and proficiency in design tools such as Figma and Adobe Creative Cloud.
- Understanding HTML, CSS, and other front-end technologies to effectively communicate with developers.
