Job Description

Information Technology, Computer Systems and Application Development are core components of our business and key to our success as one of the world's largest steel producers. Our IT organization ensures our systems are leading technology, innovative and supportive to meet the needs of our business. At U. S. Steel, you will enhance your knowledge and understanding of the IT field and the relationship between our operations and systems.

We are looking for a candidate that would be able to start in Spring (April/May) 2026. This assignment is a paid internship that offers personal and professional development in our Facility Infrastructure Support team. This position is on-site based at our Mining facilities located in Keewatin and Mt. Iron, MN.

Responsibilities:

* Assist with the governance of service management processes and application by performing data analysis and validation for various metrics.

* Once trained, work independently with minimal direction in the areas of application software maintenance and development, analysis, and troubleshooting per customer requests.

* Support the cybersecurity program by assisting with access management, compliance cyber controls, security education, incident identification/investigation and cyber-related projects.

* Daily interaction with team members, internal business units, and external customers.

* Participate with the Field Services team diagnosing and resolving common hardware, software, and network issues.

* Configure PCs, printers, peripherals, replacing basic components.

* Resolution of customer requests and problems.

Requirements:

* Candidates must be a full-time student pursuing a bachelor's degree or master's degree in information technology, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering or any IT related field.

* Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher.

* Must not complete full-time course work prior to December 2026 and be in good academic standing. Sophomores and Juniors are preferred.

* Have authorization to work in the US without sponsorship.

* Candidate must have valid driver's license.

Other Details:

$22-$26/hour. This pay rate is a good faith estimate. Based on candidate skills/experience the final offer may be lower/higher.
