We are seeking a technically rigorous and operationally oriented Spatial Analytics Specialist to support the implementation and institutionalization of the IDB' Fragility, Conflict and Criminal Violence (FCCV) territorial analysis agenda across Latin America and the Caribbean.
The Specialist will lead the management, processing, harmonization, and analysis of large-scale subnational geospatial and statistical datasets used for pocket identification. The position will support the scale-up of the Fragility, Conflict and Criminal Violence methodology to all borrowing member countries, maintain and improve geospatial analytical workflows and internal visualization tools, and provide territorial analytical support to country teams for workflows in Country Strategies.
The Specialist will work within the IDB's Country Department for Central America which has a cross-regional mandate in implementing Fragility, Conflict and Criminal Violence.
What you'll do
* Collect, harmonize, process, and document subnational data across IDB member countries, including administrative, census, survey, conflict/violence, and geospatial data.
* Run and maintain the territorial analytics pipeline: data ingestion, standardization, indicator building, index calculation, spatial aggregation, area delineation, and production of outputs. Ensure workflows are reproducible and well documented.
* Maintain organized repositories of data, metadata, documentation, and code. Update fragility, conflict, and violence analyses when major shocks, security changes, disasters, or data revisions occur.
* Coordinate with country offices and sector experts to validate data, contextualize results, and incorporate country-specific inputs.
* Manage and update the geospatial visualization platform as new countries and datasets are added.
* Integrate additional relevant data layers, such as IDB operations, conflict events, and climate/disaster risk data.
* Support country strategy teams in interpreting territorial analysis.
* Produce country-level analytical outputs, including maps, dashboards, tables, presentations, and visualizations tailored to operational needs.
* Prepare technical inputs for validation with experts and contribute to presentations, reports, and other institutional knowledge products.
