About

The Role

We are hiring an Insurance Customer Service Specialist on behalf of a well established financial services organization with an in house insurance division. This team supports personal and small commercial insurance needs for customers while assisting multiple insurance sales producers. The role is part of a collaborative insurance service team of four and is suited for someone with a customer service background, a personal lines focus, and an interest in growing a career in insurance.

A license is preferred but the client is open to training the right individual, including recent college graduates.

Job Description Personal Lines Support
  • Assist in personal lines sales and retention
  • Understand personal lines product offerings and the insurance carriers associated with each
  • Support producers by researching and obtaining auto, home, health and small commercial insurance quotes and comparing options
  • Fine tune quotes on carrier websites
  • Communicate quote details to producers and customers as directed
  • Stay current with eligibility requirements for personal lines
  • Assist with administrative tasks and special projects
Commercial Lines Support
  • Maintain a general understanding of commercial insurance product offerings
  • Assist the manager and insurance agents with sales and service activities
Policy Management
  • Compare new or updated policies with existing coverage and update the management system as needed
  • Confirm that policy changes match the requested updates
  • Prepare customer letters to accompany policy documents
Daily Customer Service
  • Answer phone calls greet walk in customers and respond to emails
  • Research and resolve customer producer and carrier inquiries
  • Process policy change requests
  • Issue certificates binders and identification cards
  • Open and distribute mail
  • Prepare and send annual renewal letters
  • Assist clients in reporting claims
  • Support retention efforts including following up on cancellations or late payments
  • Identify opportunities to offer additional lines of coverage
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with customers carriers and colleagues
  • Assist with department wide needs including supporting staff transitions and onboarding new team members
Qualifications Required
  • Two years of post high school education or equivalent experience
  • Three or more years of customer service experience
  • Ability to support multiple producers and work effectively within a team
  • Strong communication organization and customer service skills
Preferred
  • Insurance license in personal lines or property and casualty
  • Experience with personal or commercial insurance
  • Interest in long term career development in the insurance industry
  • Experience in financial services banking or an insurance agency environment
