POSITION:
Corporate Attorney ACCOUNTABILITY: CFO STATUS: PT Hourly
The corporate attorney is responsible for assisting management in achieving business goals while meeting the legalities bound by law. Incumbent shall assist on corporate contracts and regulatory matters, including writing, reviewing, summarizing, researching and executing a wide variety of agreements such as independent contracts agreements, marketing agreements, real estate leases and purchases, confidentiality agreements, lender agreements, corporate farm laws, and other general business contracts.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSIncumbent shall be responsible for the following duties:
- Write, review, and/or execute and provide ongoing review of agreements, contracts and vendor relationships.
- Advise management on contract status, legal risks and business terms of various deals.
- Offer counsel to management on legal contract issues and collaborate in developing solutions, when needed.
- Advise executive team and help with corporate legal issues, such as joint ventures, mergers & acquisitions, strategic partnership deals, financial/securities offerings, compliance issues, transactions, agreements, etc.)
- Assist, when needed, with basic corporate filings and questions.
- Assist and engage external counsel when drafting legal documents when required.
- Provide guidance on regulatory and compliance matters, when applicable
- Advocate and engage in SFI's animal welfare policy, including promoting animal well-being, remedying circumstances which impede animal care, and properly reporting instances of mistreatment or abuse.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSSix to ten years of proven background in corporate law (contract law, tax law, accounting, securities law, bankruptcy, intellectual property rights, licensing, zoning laws)
WORKING CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENTPosition is part time and may occasionally involve travel and non-standard business hours.
