Overview
Tool Bench Technician 1st shift 7am - 3:30pm Mon-Fri. with OT as required on Friday and/or Saturday. The Plastics Tool Bench Technician is responsible for the organization, preparation, and distribution of dies and fixtures used in the plastic injection manufacturing process. This role ensures all tooling is properly maintained, stored, and made ready for production in a safe, efficient manner.
Responsibilities- Mold Storage System Maintenance
- Assigns numbers and storage locations to all molds maintaining an accurate and up-to-date mold catalog
- Uses a color-coded card system to track and move molds to appropriate locations
- Organizes the mold insert cabinet and ensures fixtures are stored in assigned areas
- Coordinates with the tool room to disassemble, clean, and reassemble molds
- Assists the tool room with mold and fixture maintenance and cleaning as needed
- Stage Molds and Auxiliary Equipment
- Stages molds and fixtures at presses according to production schedules
- Returns molds and fixtures to their designated storage areas once jobs are completed
- Performs mold interchanges, using proper handling techniques
- Prepare and Receive Molds for Shipment
- Checks with the tool room supervisor scheduled mold shipments
- Records all shipping and receiving details for molds in the Plastics Tooling Catalog, ensuring accurate tracking of both outgoing and incoming molds
- Unloads molds as needed
- Consistently able to manually lift and move product and materials up to 55 lbs, including reach forward, reach overhead, lift, carry, crouch and bend
- Power grip and wrist turn, including the use of hand tools and/or steering for trucks
- Walk, sit or stand for up to 12 hours with intermittent breaks
- Push / pull 100 lbs
- See, inspect, and evaluate product quality
- Read and understand written work instructions in English
- Walk up and down steps
- Climb ladders and stairs of varying height
- Wear task-based Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):
- Protective Footwear
- Hearing Protection
- Protective Eyewear
- Gloves
- Additional PPE may be required by specific tasks
