The Role
The Production Planner is responsible for balancing customer demand with manufacturing capacity to deliver reliable schedules, accurate lead times, and improved on-time delivery. This role owns the master production schedule, long-range capacity planning, and forecasting processes, serving as the primary coordination point between Sales and Production.
What You’ll Do- Own and maintain the master production schedule based on demand, capacity, and priorities
- Convert orders, forecasts, and backlog into achievable production plans using ERP/APS tools
- Establish and maintain accurate customer lead times based on capacity data
- Identify capacity risks, bottlenecks, and constraints; recommend mitigation options
- Partner closely with Sales and Operations to align plans and execution
- Support forecasting, S&OP and monthly planning reviews
- Evaluate rush orders and demand changes using capacity-based scenarios
- Track and report planning KPIs including on-time delivery, schedule adherence, and capacity utilization
- 5+ years of experience in production planning, scheduling, or supply chain
- Experience in a job shop, sheet metal, or similar manufacturing environment preferred
- Strong capacity planning, forecasting, and analytical skills
- ERP experience (APS exposure preferred); advanced Excel skills
- Ability to communicate clearly across Sales, Operations, and Leadership
