Salary Range: $18.00 To $23.00 Hourly
The posted range reflects market-based pay. Actual compensation depends on experience, skills, and related qualifications. Base pay plus shift pay / non exempt – hourly.
PART‑TIME STUDENT OPPORTUNITYHigh School Students 16+ years must be enrolled in CTE, Youth Apprentice or similar manufacturing program.
This opportunity is designed to give interns or youth apprentice a holistic view of what Metal Craft, located in Elk River, MN has to offer in a variety of departments. This paid learning opportunity is a minimum of 12‑weeks. Intern/YA will be provided hands‑on learning and job shadowing experiences which will give the student an opportunity to develop skills to contribute to the success of the business.
In this work‑based experience students will be assigned mentor(s) and/or trainer(s).
The purpose for this role is to allow high school machining/industrial students the opportunity to gain hands‑on manufacturing experience.
Duties and Responsibilities- Job shadow in various departments such as, but not limited to, Production, Quality, Engineering, Programming, Assembly, Finishing and Shipping.
- Run machines and use a variety of hand tools and measuring equipment.
- Perform simple setups and troubleshooting (only if supervised by full‑time machinist mentor).
- Check parts with hard gauging, various measurement tools and CMM.
- Perform periodic quality checks as described in operation layouts.
- Package, wash, and deburr as described in operation layouts or otherwise directed by full‑time machinist mentor, engineer, or supervisor.
- Keep work area clean and organized.
- Intern will be responsible for the quality of the parts that he or she produces.
- Assist with the completion of operation layouts.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Ensure conduct consistent with company mission, values, code of ethics, policies and other standards of conduct.
- Students must be enrolled in the Machine Tool Technology, Manufacturing or Industrial program.
- Shift is flexible and can be changed to accommodate current courses/schedule.
- Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Must be able to work in other areas on an as‑needed basis.
- Must have strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Hours are flexible based on school schedule, minimum 12‑16 hours per week. Train during the summer on days and work part‑time 2nd shift when school is in session.
Position is eligible for part‑time Paid Time off and part‑time Holiday rate.
