Hours:

2pm-10pm M-F

• All in hourly compensation: $23.44/hr
• Base Pay: $20.96/hr
• Sign on Bonus: $1.22/hr worked
• 6% Shift Differential for Mid Shift: $1.26/hr
• Profit Sharing Eligibility:
  Begins after completing 1 year of employment ($7.7 Million in Profits Paid to Profit Sharing Pool in 2025)

Tuffy’s Pet Food is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the Mid Shift – DCC Assistant Operator position. The person in this role will operate the dry pet food dryer, coater, and cooler systems to produce products following all quality, food safety, and safety requirements set forth in company policies. This position will report to the Extrusion/DCC Supervisor.

• Review and follow daily production schedule, verifying against product information sheets for accuracy.
• Communicate with the extruder room and dry packaging personnel regarding required bins for immediate production needs.
• Operate the dryer, coater, and cooler, and monitor ancillary equipment to meet the desired specifications set by the Quality Assurance Department.
• Visually inspect and save samples throughout all runs to be taken to the Quality Control Lab for final analysis.
• Record operation parameters at the end of each shift.
• Record all liquid coatings required for each run at the end of each shift.
• Record all dry coatings required for each run at the end of each shift.
• Monitor all feed formulas presented for color and odor, notifying supervisor of any deviations from specifications.
• Clean systems as required between production runs.
• Perform daily clean-up and sanitation of dryer, coater, and cooler area.
• Participate in weekly cleaning of dryer, coater, and cooler area per schedule.
• Notify maintenance of any unusual equipment noises or failures.
• Train new department employees.

• General mathematical ability and basic computer skills.
• Must be able to read, speak, write, and understand English.
• Willing and able to cooperate with others; able to fill in on other shifts as required by supervisor.
• Good judgment, communication skills, and reasoning abilities.
• Ability to handle weights of up to 100 lbs and 50 lbs on a routine basis.
