Brief Description
The Production Lead is responsible for overseeing day‑to‑day production, providing shift supervision, training, task assignment and assisting with personnel staffing of production employees on the same shift. This Northfield opening is a weekend shift Friday‑Sunday 5A‑5P.
EssentialJob Duties
- Shift Leadership
- Responsible for scheduled work through the production floor and company goals and metrics.
- Confer with supervisor at the beginning of the shift to schedule shift workflow, ascertain production expectations, and ‘hot jobs’ ensuring shift production expectations are met.
- Assign work and set priority in the daily communication meeting.
- Answer questions throughout shift on workflow, provide best manufacturing practices and solicit input on production processes from techs.
- Resolve problems throughout the shift, alerting supervisor to issues and recommending resolutions for the future.
- Use Lean Manufacturing techniques to set up cells for efficient production as needed.
- Support staff and enforce operating policies and SOPs.
- Incorporate the “5S” and Lean Manufacturing Systems into their area.
- Cross‑shift communication.
- Coordinate management objectives with the work floor to meet company goals by communicating policies, expectations and changes; be a champion for employees on company processes and expectations.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives with their cells.
- Maintain visual management boards within the cells.
- Fill in production roles when needed (if certified).
- Training
- Acclimate new employees to the area and ensure they are aware of safety procedures, documentation process and general performance expectations.
- Help train employees on processes within the area, providing consistent expectations and procedural training.
- Evaluate employees on training progress, retrain as necessary, and certify when appropriate.
- Ensure all staff are properly trained according to ISO standards and all training forms are completed and filed timely by working with the Training Coordinator.
- Personnel Processing
- Participate in candidate interviews and support Production Supervisors with selection of new hires.
- Support Production Supervisors on performance appraisals, discipline, tracking attendance, coaching, etc.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Read, follow and sign route sheets and assembly instructions.
- Learn, demonstrate, and retain critical process information.
- Follow daily work schedules.
- Record data in various company systems.
- Move work orders in ERP system.
- Have a passion for continuous improvement.
- Have and develop strong knowledge of lean principals and processes.
- Take responsibility for personal job performance.
- Communicate clearly in English (written and verbally).
- Direct and lead the work of others in a clear, concise, professional manner.
- Successfully complete on‑the‑job training and pass written and/or demonstrated tests.
- Adhere to employee rules and regulations, leading by example in integrity, punctuality, attendance and reliability.
- Strong analytical and investigative skills, mature judgment; must be a problem solver and decision maker.
- Ability to work flexible hours and overtime as needed to support business needs.
- Understand All Flex’s Quality Policy and implement it in all processes.
- High School diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Experience using various manufacturing equipment.
- Working knowledge of a manufacturing and production company; experience with the printed circuit industry preferred.
- General knowledge of all production processes in area.
Requires computer skills including Excel and Word, and knowledge of the company ERP system.
