Job SummaryThe Environmental Technician is responsible for supporting environmental compliance and initiatives for internal and external customers and supports Materials Operations with receiving, stocking, delivery, and shipment of materials. In addition, this role is responsible for maintaining hazardous materials, hazardous wastes, and recycling materials as well as emergency spill response support required within the assigned facility.
Pay Range: $19.50 - $26.52
Your ImpactThese duties are not meant to be all-inclusive and other duties may be assigned.
Responsibilities- Efficiently manage hazardous materials, hazardous wastes, universal wastes, E-Waste and recycling inventories.
- Support all areas of the facility with wastes and recycling transfers or shipments, spill response, delivery of hazardous materials, area auditing and updating of environmental information.
- Complete required inspections, auditing, training, and sampling for stormwater, air permit, tanks and hazardous waste permits and plans compliance.
- Efficiently locate & pull materials/supplies as listed on production/sales order and stock assigned production areas to maintain inventory levels for production; ability to accurately verify parts & quantities and complete BOLs to receive and/or ship material.
- Maintain all Safety Management System (SMS) and Environmental Management System (EMS) procedures, rules and standard work in all assigned facility areas.
- Licensed and can operate required material handling equipment (i.e. Forklift, Stand‑up, Sit‑down, Combi, Lancer, Tugger).
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment in compliance with safety, environmental and quality requirements, procedures and 6S standards utilizing best practices for safe operation of various materials support equipment in assigned areas.
- Per 40 CFR 265.16(d)(1‑3) – this position may require initial training within 6 months and annual thereafter as a hazardous waste handler as required by the EPA RCRA hazardous waste rules.
- Responsible for and trained to understand waste hazards, storage time limits, satellite accumulation, marking, labeling, weekly inspections, aisle space, storage, manifest shipping, use and location of emergency equipment, response to spills and fires, evacuation routes and other hazards.
- Two (2) or more years’ experience in materials or an equivalent evaluation.
- Ability to operate a forklift or tugger safely and efficiently.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Ability to conduct cycle counts.
- Effective with working cross‑functionally with various internal customers.
- Ability to use JDE for part analysis.
- Desire or passion for the environment and for a sustainable culture.
- Basic computer and data entry skills.
- Rectify inventory discrepancies, monitor KANBAN cards, conduct receiving operations, previous experience with ERG systems (JDE, etc.).
- Perform product transfers utilizing scanners and other inventory management practices.
- Ability to multi‑task and adapt to an ever‑changing environment and processes.
- Ability to efficiently train new hire team members and cross‑train existing team members on all material handling job duties.
